The Chesterfield Parkinson's Support Group has a long history of providing friendship, support and companionship to people affected by Parkinson's disease in Chesterfield and the surrounding area. The group has been associated with the Parkinson's Disease Society, now Parkinson's UK, and has developed over the years from a traditional support group into a wider community providing social activities, information, companionship and support for both people with Parkinson's and their carers.
By 2007, Parkinson's-related fundraising was already taking place prominently in the Chesterfield area, including a sponsored cycle ride which raised more than £1,400 for the Parkinson's Disease Society.
Today the group meets at St John's Church, Walton, and also provides its Tulip meetings at the Olde House on Newbold Road, giving people with Parkinson's and their supporters an opportunity to meet, talk and share experiences..
